Gossip Stones and Goddess Walls
Index of Tips and Tricks • Complete Walkthrough
The travelling Goron tells you about those strange stones and walls. After going back to the Sealed Temple, he discovered a strange group of butterflies. Get close to them and play the Harp: a Gossip Stone appears. The Goron says that these stones and walls react to pretty melodies: the stones make a "bo-oing" sound and say strange things whereas the walls grant your wishes. You can find their locations by looking for butterfly swarms...
Gossip Stones
Here are the locations of the Gossip Stones and their hints. Warning: the treasures they drop are not always the same.
Location | Path | Words | Dropped treasure |
---|---|---|---|
Faron Woods | Behind the Sealed Temple, between the temple and the Bird Statue | It is told that Gossip Stones attract butterflies. When a pretty melody is played where butterflies fly, they make "bo-oing" | |
Floria Waterfall | After leaving the Water Dragon's lair, on the left | It is told that if you draw a love symbol on a Goddess Wall, you may feel better. | |
Deep Woods | Near Skyview Temple, climb two "floors" on the left (nearby an Octorok) | It is told that the Glittering Spores coming from the mushrooms have an effect on insects and monsters | |
Pumpkin Landing | Left of the building (when facing the entrance) | Apparently if you draw a symbol of money on certain walls, you can make an easy fortune | |
Bamboo Island | In the back of the house | You can get a valuable treasure if you succedd in cutting the bamboo stalk over 28 times at Clean Cut. Peater, who was formerly the teen heartthrob of Skyloft, claims to hold the record of 43 slices. Or so he says... | |
Eldin Volcano | Thrill Digger, to the right of Tubbert | It is told that whoever finds all of the rupees at Thrill Digger wins a Rare Treasure. | |
Eldin Volcano | Left of Earth Temple, on a place high up | I've heard some of the Goddess Cubes unlock all sorts of treasure when they fly up to the sky. Some even hold a Piece of Heart. | |
Desert Gorge | In the northwest corner of the region (near the wall of the Temple of Time) | It is told that if you want to catch rare insects, you have to approach them very slowly with a big net | |
Volcano Summit | In the room with the second frog head, on the right | Rumor has it there's a Piece of Heart hidden somewhere nearby. The thing is, to get it you need to able to burrow like a Mogma. After finding the Container: ... It is also told that you've already found it... Hmm... |
|
Small Island southeast of the yellow beam | Land in the hole on top of the island | It is told that if you draw three triangles on a Goddess Wall, you may make some fairies appear | |
Lanayru Caves | In the cave where the old Goron is | They say somewhere in this vast desert, there's a dragon who loves putting the abilities of those who visit him to some kind of test. If you can master the challenges he throws at you, you'll be rewarded with a shield stronger than any other | |
Lanayru Caves | In the narrow path found by the Goron (after meeting Levias) | Oddly enough, it seems that drawing a circle on certain strange walls will produce something round | |
Eldin Volcano | After or during the moment you have to retrieve your items: go southeast of the Bird Statue "Volcano Ascent" where lava plates move along the river towards south. Jump on one of them and quickly jump again in front of a cave entrance; inside, look on the right | When looking for your equipment: It is told that a dragon lives on the summit. However the summit is not this place... After retrieving your equipment: It is told that the Mogmas, who love treasures, live under this volcano. It is also told that they live a rather quiet life now |

Eldin Volcano | After or during the moment you have to retrieve your items: Go southeast of Earth Temple, behind the Bokoblin camp where lava plates move along the river towards south. Jump on one of them and quickly jump again in front of a cave entrance; inside, look on the left | When looking for your equipment: It is told that a dragon lives on the summit. However it is also told that he lives in a furnace that you can hardly enter. After retrieving your equipment: It is told that the dragon enjoys chatting. It is also told that he can speak about the other regions until your ears drop on the ground |

Thunderhead - small island south of Bug Rock | In the middle of the island | It is told that whoever finishes the "Expert" level of Bug Paradise in less than 2 minutes can win rare insects | |
Volcano Summit | Above the waterfall, outside. From the waterfall, turn around and move on the "balcony". Jump to reach a flat pillar hidden behind a tall one in front of you (you can use Dowsing for "Goddess Cubes") and land near the Goddess Cube (slightly tip the remote to "move forward"). Use your Clawshots on the four vines to reach the location above the waterfall and see the butterflies | Rumor has it that drawing an arrow shape on certain walls will cause an objet of similar shape to appear | |
Skyloft | Near the Waterfall Cave entrance. Fire your Clawshots at the vines on the small higher island, then on an even higher island where the waterfall starts | You must be a tough adventurer to reach this place! Do you think you can land in the nest on top of the tower from here? |
Remark: The stone inside the Waterfall Cave is a Moonlight Merchant, not a Gossip Stone.

Note that the Goddess Walls regenerate after a while. You learn that from Gorko, the Goron behind the Sealed Temple, after meeting Levias.
Furthermore, after getting the Piece of Heart from Gorko, you can help him again once the wall has been regenerated. He will give you an Ordinary or a Rare Treasure. When he asks you to draw a Triforce, you will earn 300 rupees!
Powers
You learn them from the Gossip Stones. When you find a Goddess Wall, raise your sword and draw whatever you want:
- A love symbol (a heart) gives 10 hearts!
- A money symbol (a rupee) gives between 30 and 150 rupees!
- Three triangles (Triforce) give three fairies!
- A circle (a bomb) gives 30 bombs!
- An arrow gives 30 arrows!
- Another shape gives 3 hearts!
Thank you to Yann, Paul, Kevin, Adam and Crepus for their participations!
